Why localize

Sometimes importing is the thing that loses the contract

Local content requirements, import duties, exchange-rate exposure, lead times and customer expectations about support all push in the same direction. In defense and infrastructure programs in particular, a share of local production is frequently not an advantage but a condition of competing at all.

Localizing is not one decision either. It runs from an honest assessment of whether the volumes justify it, through the strategy, the site, the industrial setup and the supply chain, to a line that is actually producing.

Brazil has the industrial base, the supplier network and the investment programs to support that. What foreign companies usually lack is someone to connect those pieces in the right order.

Industrialization

What industrialization covers

Assessed first, then executed. The assessment is worth doing even when the answer turns out to be no.

01

Manufacturing Localization

What to produce here and what to keep importing, staged so the investment follows the demand rather than preceding it.

02

Supply-Chain Development

Local suppliers identified, qualified against your standards and developed to the point where they can hold them.

03

Industrial Partnerships

Joint ventures, contract manufacturing and licensed production with established Brazilian industrial groups.

04

Site Development

Industrial site selection and implementation, weighed against logistics, workforce and regional incentive programs.

05

Local Sourcing

Local content qualified and evidenced, where a contract or an incentive program requires it.

06

Industrial Investment Support

The investment case assembled, and the institutional conversations that go with it coordinated.

Incentives

Investment & Tax Incentive Support

We help clients assess and navigate investment incentives and industrial development programs available in Brazil, coordinating with qualified local legal, tax and government-relations specialists when required.

Incentives exist at federal, state and municipal level, and they are specific: a program will attach to a sector, a region, a class of investment or a level of local content, and it is granted through an approval process rather than claimed. Assessing which ones a project can realistically qualify for, and what the project would have to look like to qualify, is the work that comes first.

We do not promise that a benefit will be granted. Whether one is depends on the program, the level of government, the qualification of the project and a government decision. What we do is establish which programs are plausible, what each requires, and orchestrate the specialists who prepare and submit the case.

From imported technology to a production line running in Brazil.
